THE FUTURE OF THEATRE IN KING

Founded in 2024, King Theatre Company is dedicated to enriching the lives of King Township and GTA residents by providing high-quality, professional theatre, entertainment, and educational programming. As a registered not-for-profit, our mission is to cultivate culture, foster community, and offer employment opportunities for local artists while promoting civic engagement. Through the transformative power of the performing arts, we aim to enhance the cultural fabric of our rapidly growing community.

In the coming years, King Theatre Company envisions itself as a leading cultural institution in King Township and the GTA. We aspire to be a hub for professional live entertainment, artistic development, and arts-based education. Our vision is to create a vibrant cultural identity within King Township, offering accessible, top-tier theatre experiences tailored to the wants and needs of our community, and engaging, inspiring, and entertaining King Township locals and visitors alike.

Chloë Rose Flowers

Artistic Director

Born and raised in King City, Chloë is thrilled to bring professional theatre to the Township as the Artistic Director of King Theatre Company. Chloë directs KTC's professional and children's programming.

​

An award-winning producer, director, performer and playwright, Chloë has worked with theatre companies across Ontario, including Mirvish Productions, Shakespeare in Action, Theatre Georgian Bay, Theatre by the Bay, and Hart House Theatre.

 

She has produced everything from independent works to full theatrical seasons, spanning musicals, mainstage plays, Shakespeare in the Park, radio dramas, workshops, and devised theatre.

When not working on a production, Chloë enjoys spending time with her horses.

For KTC: Salt-Water Moon

 

Josh Palmer is a Toronto based actor and a graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University's acting program. For KTC he played Jacob in last year's Salt Water Moon. Other select credits include Nick in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (ZippySaidProductions), Hayden in TomorrowLove (TMU/Nikki Shaffeeullah), and the famously doubled role of Tybalt/Paris in Romeo and Juliet (Theatre Georgian Bay).

Graham Banville

Fight Director

​For KTC: Debut

 

Graham is an actor and stage combat choreographer from Barrie, Ontario. He has a degree in Drama from Queen's University and is a certified Actor-Combatant with Fight Directors Canada. This is his first show with the King Theatre Company, gladly joining this production with friends new and old. He has experience teaching and choreographing fights for community theatres, high school productions, and independent projects including: The Pirates of Penzance (Kincardine Theatre Guild), Crab Mentality (U of T Alumni project), I Hate Hamlet (South Simcoe Theatre), and Romeo and Juliet (Theatre Georgian Bay). When not in the theatre, he keeps the lights on in his role as an apprentice electrician. 

For KTC: Debut

 

King Theatre Company's "ART" marks Fred Kuhr's return to live theatre after 20 years focusing on film, TV and web content. After graduating from the Northwestern University School of Drama outside Chicago, Fred worked as an actor in Chicago and across New England. Notable roles included starring in Neil Simon's "Lost In Yonkers," David Mamet's "All Men Are Whores" and Stephen Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd." After moving to Toronto, he starred in several independent films and television commercials. Notable TV appearances include on Global TV's reality competition "Canada Sings," W's "Come Dine With Me Canada" and Howie Mandel's hidden-camera show, "Howie Do It." Fred is also a filmmaker in his own right, having produced and directed several award-winning short films. He's currently writing his first feature screenplay. A dual US/Canadian citizen, he lives in Toronto with his husband.

Ganesh Thava is a Tamil-Canadian writer, director, and actor working in theatre and film. He trained at George Brown Theatre School in Toronto and the Neighborhood Playhouse Theatre in New York. As a performer, he has taken on dynamic roles in productions such as Jane Eyre, Harvey, and The Beloved. His screen credits include Bark (Panoptic Pictures), The Most Dangerous Game (CBS Studios), and Spin (Disney Studios).

Beyond acting, Ganesh is an award-winning director and playwright. His original work Koli Kari debuted at the Toronto Fringe, and his films The Orchid & The Tree and Bark have screened internationally. He is also the founder of Pink Banana Theatre, dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices.

Ganesh’s work explores themes of identity, belonging, and power dynamics, particularly through the lens of ethnicity, status, and sexuality. He strives to create spaces where complex, diverse narratives can thrive.

​For KTC: Debut

 

Khaleel is a film and video director, editor, producer and production manager. He is also a professional theatrical stage manager, video designer and occasional photographer. He has an Honours B.A. in Theatre, Film and Multimedia Studies (McMaster, 2021).

​

As a filmmaker, he focuses on three areas: documentary, education, and corporate videos. On the stage, he supports production teams in bringing their artistic and technical visions to life, and from time to time will lend his film knowledge to create projections and videos.

​

He is based in Collingwood, Ontario, and has worked in Barrie, Toronto, Hamilton, and beyond.

​Daniel Tessy is an Iraqi-Jamaican-Canadian multidisciplinary theatre artist, technician, educator and recording artist. He has produced original scores and soundscapes for companies such as
Renegade Arts Society, Holy Crow Arts, Green Thumb Theatre, United Players of Vancouver, Capilano University and more. His work outside sound and music includes lighting and projection design, directing and technical direction. He had a long collaboration with UBC’s Creative Writing department, supporting new works by their faculty and students with directing and design work. He’s just relocated to Tkarón:to to participate in its vibrant arts community, and is a sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto.

Lisa Van Oorschot

Lighting Designer

​

Lisa is a theatre designer and technician. She has worked for theatre companies across Canada, including Newfoundland’s Rising Tide Theatre and Victoria’s Blue Bridge Theatre. She recently completed her MFA in Theatre Design & Production at the University of Victoria. She also studied at Humber College and York University's Glendon College, both of which she has returned to as a theatre staff member. Lisa is thrilled to be working with King Theatre Company again after designing the lighting for last summer’s inaugural production of Salt-Water Moon.

Adrian Forestieri

Instructor on behalf of King Township

​For KTC: 101 Dalmatians Kids, Once Upon A Stage Workshops.

​

Adrian Forestieri is an experienced musician with a diverse vocal and instrumental music background. Proficient in piano, guitar, and French horn, he has performed in various settings, including choral ensembles, orchestras, and recitals. Adrian has led musical groups through rehearsals and performances, coordinating arrangements and ensuring cohesive interpretations of pieces. He has also taught music at the K-12 level, sharing his expertise with students of all ages and fostering their growth in technique and musical understanding. His work includes contributing to ensemble performances on French horn and providing rhythmic and melodic support. 

​

​Adrian served as the Director of Camps and Inclusion Services in King Township, bringing over four years of experience working with youth. His leadership focused on creating inclusive, engaging programs that fostered growth and community for campers and staff alike.
